40 years old the Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie welcomed second child, son Hal Auden Cumberbatch, on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the ultra chic Portland Hospital in London. Benedict’s new baby boy is named Hal Auden Cumberbatch, which happens to be the nickname that Shakespeare’s Henry V had before he was the hero of Agincourt.
They welcomed their first child, a boy named Christopher, in June 2015, only a few months after they tied the knot in a Valentine’s Day ceremony.
Benedict Cumberbatch was born and raised in London, England in a actor family. His parents, Wanda Ventham and Timothy Carlton are both actors. Cumberbatch attended Brambletye School and Harrow School. After he finished school, he took a year off to volunteer as an English teacher in a Tibetan monastery in Darjeeling, India.
Cumberbatch is married to English theatre and opera director Sophie Hunter. Their engagement was announced in the “Forthcoming Marriages” section of The Times on 5 November 2014, after a 17-year friendship. On 14 February 2015, the couple married at the 12th century Church of St. Peter and St. Paul on the Isle of Wight.
Cumberbatch has received numerous awards and nominations for acting including three Laurence Olivier Award nominations, winning Best Actor in a Play for Frankenstein.
