Singer and songwriter Sophie B. Hawkins welcomed her second child (Baby Girl) at 4:49 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at New York Presbyterian Hospital Weill Cornell Campus.
At age 50, Sophie has welcomed her second child, She named her daughter Esther Ballantine Hawkins who weighed 8 lbs. at birth.
Sophie Ballantine Hawkins is an American singer, songwriter, musician and painter. Her highest-charting singles are “Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover”, “Right Beside You”, and “As I Lay Me Down”.
Sophie has always been an artist at heart. After attending Manhattan School of Music as a percussionist for nearly a year, Sophie left to pursue a professional music career. She got her big break playing percussion for Bryan Ferry, and he fired her she was inspired to write the hit single “Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover”. She released her critically acclaimed debut album Tongues and Tails in 1992, which earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.
